Brilliant work and superbly clean sculpture . But with this effect on hair i am not sure if casting thepiece will represent them accurately . Looks more a one night piece to me . But i definately love it

Hi,

Thank you all very much for your comments!

@Dan Morton: As far as I can remember it took me an afternoon (4-5h) to do the hairs...it doesn´t take that long but it´s a rather monotonous work.

@Tommi: Unfortunatelly I think there will be no castings. As Major_Goose mentioned the hairs would be almost impossible to cast and moreover I still don´t have the guts to cut my minis into pieces after having finished them....

Thanks for looking,

cheers, si.

This is a very nice piece. I really like armor and weapons on this figure, it looks like real armor with fantasy elements. The War Hammer style of huge over size armor has just never worked for me. The really over sized weapons have also followed fantasy pieces over in to the larger scales like 54 mm and they looked cartoony on 30 mm figures, and just look ridiculous to me on anything bigger. You seem to be working in the John Howe style. Start with real armor and then work fantasy elements into that. Wonderful figure.

Hi,

Thank you all, I really appreciate your comments!:)

@ Jeff: I think it´s easier to achive realistic proportions on a 54mm mini rather than on a 30mm, that´s why I started working in 54mm. I didn´t use any specific work of Jhon Howe as reference but his style has definitely influenced my work.

@ barbados_wild:
I started with a milliput structure to define the general movement of the hair.
Afterwards I made a lot of very thin Green Stuff strands and laid them on the structure (by using a needle). It took me two sessions to get the haircut done. Important is to cover the edges of the milliput structure with small streaks before attaching the longer hairs that start from the vertex. It´s also advisable to use a rather tough putty for the structure and a more flexible one for the streaks.
I hope this can help.

Cheers, si

I do not think your work looks like John Howe's. Only that you seem to follow his philosophy start with something that is real and add fantasy elements. It is a really nice figure. The hair looks just like it should. I have worn helmets and after you run around in one for any time your hair looks just like that when you take it off.
