"KOKODA" - Australian Infantry, New Guinea
1/10th scale resin - 5 parts
Sculpted & Painted by Andy Cairns

The newest kit I have received from AC Models is Andy Cairns' 1/10th scale "KOKODA" bust depicting an Australian Infantryman smoking a cigarette in the New Guinea campaign. This is a 4 part resin and 1 metal wire (cigarette) and has the typical attitude and story to the bust.

Arriving in AC Model's sturdy white cardboard box with all parts sealed into a small zip-lok bag the bags are then wrapped in bubble wrap to insure against damage while being shipped. The bottom photo shows the 4 resin parts as well as the wire to be cut to length for the cigarette in his right hand.

Above are various views of the main torso section of the bust. I really like the facial expressions and slight turn of the head that go beyond so many other straight forward looking busts.

Above are the four views of the Australian Service hat that is cast separately and dry-fits tightly on top of the head.

Above are various views and angles of the bust with the Australian Service hat dry-fitted to the top of the head. There are some casting lines to sand away on the back of the bust. The bottom photo shows the chest detail a little closer.

The bust sits onto the bust plinth which is provided in the kit.

Conclusion:
Another beautiful bust from the talented hands of Andy Cairns. Each one I have reviewed is an excellent casting loaded with detail. Highly recommended.

Given some good sanding and a painter with an adequately restrained taste for highlight and shadows, this kit will be a winner in every show, particularly owing to the richness of its folds and wrinkles. One of the really outstanding pieces from Andy.
