Looks great so far Dave. I really like your reds even if the photos are a bit dark to judge correctly. I also own this figure, and maybe someday I will start it as well.

Beautiful work, Dave. He looks like he can speak, very realistic fleshtones. I think the darker shade in the photo seems to set him off well.

Nice stuff here Dave, love those reds.
Look forward to seeing that trumpet pennant!
All the best mate, apologies for Wednesday, I had to turn back, so bad was the traffic.. :(

Dave, he's looking really good so far. I too have been cleaning this figure up in hopes of getting some painting done this Christmas. BTW, what colors are you using/ planning to use on the lace? I have been trying different colors and all are coming out wayyyyyy to yellow!

Thanks,
Jim Patrick

Hi Guys

Thanks for the compiments, its a great figure my compliments to Maurizio(MAB) on the sculpture.

Jim - The yellows are always a pain to get right, I work in acrylics and oils to try and get this right, Base all the red and yelloe with Andrea Golden Yellow, no shadows or highlights, then paint the reds with Andrea Napoleonic Red, then give thered and the yellow a vry thin wash of Burnt Sienna oil, this nocks the sharpness off the yellow and gives a good blend to the shadows of the red. Give it a try on something other than the figure, there is alot of work goes into the painting before the washes go on

Dave, that's really looking good. I like the face and the reds aren't less either.

Dave, you're walking far mate, YOU REALLY ARE!!!

Great everything......keep it up

Happy boxing day

Ray ;)

Fantastic job so far Dave! I'm working on the same figure and I wanted to give you a quick heads up. Make sure you attach the trumpet to his hand before you glue the right arm to the figure. There is no way you can coax it (the trumpet) into place with the arm glued into position, and you'll have to remove the arm as I had to  .

Great work so for Dave. I have this one also but put it back in the box after looking at the braid... :(

Hi Guys

Thanks for all the compliments, this simply one of the best figures on the market at the moment, yes the painting is difficult, its a brilliant challenge, it just needs a little more time. Carefull planning and thought as well as prefitting parts after cleaning especially the banner on the trumpet (thanks Glenn).

Thanks again

Dave
