Hi to all at PF ,
Whislt I was at the IPMS UK Nationals in Telford , UK , I was strangley drawn to a trade stand from a company called Sovereign 2000 , upon reaching the stand my eyes immediately went to spot any busts ...was I succesful ...YOU BET I was so off came the lock from the wallet and here it is :

Subject : British Tank Commander (North Africa)

Reference: S2KB001

Scale: 1/9th

Sculptor: Tony Wiliiams

Material: Creamy coloured Resin

The model comes well packed in a sturdy cardboard box with a coloured box art picture on the front , packed in amongst polystyrene chippings with the smaller parts sealed in a plastic bag .

Also included is another colour photograph of the completed model ...nice touch and a good reference.

The model consists of 3 pieces ..the torso , the plinth (which has a desert rat badge on it) and the binoculars that hang round his neck .

The bust and all the pieces are cast very cleanly with all area's of the actual bust being totally devoid of any sign of air bubbles or casting lines ...well done to Sovereign 2000 .

Prep will not take long with just a small bit of flash to remove on the undersides of the base , easily done with wet and dry .

Moving onto the pieces themselves firstly looking at the main component :

The Torso : a one piece casting complete with the head , casting is very clean indeed , of particular note are the undercuts on the shirt collar and also the way the beret is being crushed by the goggles ...really nicely done.

Clothing folds are nicely portrayed as are the facial features , painting will no doubt bring out the fatigue and grime that was very present in the campaigns of the desert .

The beret is well sculpted , it also has a nicely done Tank Regt badge which has been sculpted pushed in by the strap on the goggles.

Moving onto the final 2 pieces the plinth and the binoculars :

Firstly the plinth , a simple pedastal which will need to be pinned to provide a more secure fitment but this is no problem , what really makes the plinth stand out is the wonderful sculpted desert rat that is sculpted on the front ..nice touch and distinctive .

Now the Bino : , nicely sculpted , but I am sure that there are those that might want to super detail these even more , again I would personally pin these rather that rely on glues (ie superglue which can get brittle as time passes)

Conclusion :
A really straight forward up and down bust , minimal prep needed , with the model throwing out the challenge to paint the flesh tones to depict a sun burnt and tired tanker so often seen in period pictures . With no complex camo to paint the modeller can let his paintbrush produce a varity of tthe clothing colours seen , from new kharki to an almost ivory colour , bleached with the sun and use .

Highly recommended and a great start from Sovereign 2000 , to get one of these contact them either via their website (www.sovereign2000.uk.com)
or e mail Marc Day at [email protected] , if you are in the UK you can also get it from Historex Agents at www.historex-agents.com TEL : 01304 206720

Price should be around £15-20 .
