HI all

after getting some very disappointing news from the trade both at home and Europe. Roland and I have had to cancel the Leeds Model Expo, and put the whole thing on hold. I had Final talks with various companies over the weekend to try and give them a better deal to get them to change their minds. I was hoping to hear good news. but to no avail they have decided that it was going to interfere with Euro and they had changed their minds.

This has left both me and Roland very upset and let down. We booked the dates in good faith as we had a very positive response and some of the big European companies backed it . then we had the brexit and it all changed.

They started to cancel one by one and then it ended up with 16 traders out of the 36 we had provisionally booked dropping out. we can not run the show on that it's too expensive and it would have run at a very big loss. I have tried to fill in the caps but to no avail.

Roland put the message up before I had a chance to try and pull it round. I wanted to wait a week to see if I could claw back some of the trade by offering better incentive but even that did not work.

we are very disaponted in this and feel that the trade has been very short sighted. this could have been a fantastic show but we now have to shelve any plans.

I will post this on here & FB once again so sorry but it's a business at the end of the day and if it will not pay for it's self then it can't be run.

Kind Regards

Ian & Roland

Ian I am as disappointed as you and Roland, I really feel for you both over this.
I hope it doesn't spoil the very special relationship you and the white rose lads enjoy with the Armouries, and you can re'convene the idea in the future.

All the best mate.

Paul.

Ian,

Well done to you and Roland for going for this in the first place and getting it as far as you do , a real shame , on hold as you say , sounds like traders were pannicky after brexit to say the least .

We all feel your dissaponitment mate but reality is best faced now rather than try and run without covering the costs .

Well done both of you. Hope you keep it on the shelf for the future.
Much appreciated

Thanks for the effort guys. Don't get too downhearted - even Euro can't get the traders it used to. As Del said please keep it on the shelf for the future.

Cheers

A very sad outcome indeed.....I just hope this isn't going to become a future trend regarding our hobby's brethren from across "La Manche". However, it was something I feared when the Referendum result was announced. C'est la Vie !

Great shame. Crazy the way that people panic whenever a hint of change is in the air. Especially when nothing has even actually changed!

The UK is still a full member of the EU, and will be for at least two years after they trigger Article 50 (assuming that they ever do).
