Scotland is currently experiencing it's annual 4 days of summer so I've been sitting in the garden.
After cleaning and filling the bird feeders I decided to haul some old Military Modelling mags out of the cellar......a really enjoyable experience looking at these with a slightly cynical eye.
Basically there were the same grumps and moans as we get today but obviously in the absence of the internet the volume was restricted by magazine space constraints, editorial professionalism.
What was really interesting was looking at the adverts from companies long gone and from places you wouldn't expect like Vulcan Miniature from Dunure in Ayrshire, there must be hundreds of moulds somewhere out there. I'd love someone to do a 'nostalgia' release every now and then.
It was also great to look at some of the cracking articles by guys like Gary Joclyn and Lee Chandler.
A very pleasant afternoon and still enough sunshine for me to go back out......It's now after 3.30 so I can move on to doubles.....:)

Funnily enough I 've been doing the same, inside because it's flippin' freezing here, after hooking out the July '95 issue for Neil yesterday. £16.50 for a 75mm Pegaso in '95 same fig on Historex Agents site is £34.95 now.
I was thinking the same.
When I left school I was on £35 a week,
so they haven't gone up that much.
I never thought I'd say that.
Make the most of it Del, the midges will be out soon enough.;)

Hi Del I too am enjoying the Scottish Summer sitting in the garden sunning myself in this warm minus 4 degrees heatwave, but if it drops any lower I might have to put my T-Shirt back on though.
I was looking through my old 2000 ad's as I was never rich enough to afford Military Modelling although I did receive one a a Christmas present once.
Talking about nostalgia did you ever come to Brian Sherriffs model shop in Dundee?

Now there's a real blast from the past. In a previous life whenever there was a survey or site management visit to Dundee my chief architect used to always arrange time for a visit to Brian Sherriffs shop......must be about 35 years ago.

I used to work there on Saturdays when I was 15 to 17 y.o. that would be about 28, 29 years ago or so.
It was an amazing shop. Had everything in it. He had a shop in Perth as well i think.
