Hi all!

I need a bit of help with some research.

I want to depict a scarf worn on a ww1 tommy representing Leeds City?
My research shows they were disbanded after the great War for paying players during the war...

So far I believe the team colors were Dark blue and Yellow/gold...

Anyone have images or info on the supporters scarves?

Many thanks in advance!

I know they where on the Somme and from the 900 Pals only 150 survived.
What I further now is that many new units evolved at the beginning of the war but it was to be Lord Kitchener’s ‘Calls to Arms’ that would help bring together many of the War raised, such as The 15th (service) Battalion (1st Leeds) The Prince of Wales’s Own (West Yorkshire Regiment), more famously known as the ‘Leeds Pals’ Lord Kitchener.
So as far as I know (and that is not much) is that I think there where no teamcolors because the Pals where alot of guys from different teams.
But I can be wrong.

Sorry, can't help. I didn't know much about LUFC other than the 70's when they were little Scotland...Jordan, Lorimer, Gray and Bremner. Highlight - when they beat my all time least favourite English club in the FA cup (ARSEnal)
Take it your not a Gooner then Paul:happy: , i am and proud of it!! best F.C in London:joyful:
Mark, sorry i cant be of help, maybe someone with inside knowledge of the club?

Steve it appears they were disbanded following financial irregularities. Mark's question relates to Leeds City FC who were replaced in the league by Port Vale.

I was intrigued enough by Mark's question to have a little scout around but can only find references to the team's shirt. I'm not even sure if there would have been official supporter scarves at that time and perhaps such things might have been hand knitted in whatever colours would have been closest to the team's strip.

Ah right cheers Geoff I got the impression it was for paying players during the war not fiddling the books

Thanks for the input gents!

Leeds city were dissolved in 1919 ( mid season! ) due to irregularities of a financial nature but it seems likely it was paying players during the war that did for them... in the following year Leeds United formed and the rest is history LOL:)

Here is a complete history of the club from a Leeds United website
