I just happened to notice a news item in my local paper today regarding the passing of Leon Weil. Who was Leon Weil? One of the last seven surviving French veterans of WW!. According to the article Weil was mobilized at age 20 and sent to the Western Front where he participated in bayonet attacks. Again in WWII he was part of the French Intelligence underground and known as Code Name Victor. He was awarded Frances's highest award of the Legion of Honor. He passed away at a military hospital. He had been a boxer and swimmer and jdied at 109. He was still swimming at 102 and I thought he deserved his 15 minutes.

As Al says, I've never heard of this bloke either, but hats off for standing up to such tyranny as he did - and this geezer did it twice as well. Fully in the knowledge of what would happen if they caught him.
People like this humble the rest of us.
