Hi everybody,
I´m doing some research on light sources for my workbench. I actually got two light bulbs, one "normal" 60W and a "spot" 60W, which produce much light but also much glare and shadow. Lately I found out that although on my workbench the colors look good "spread out" when I go to my terrace at daylight I see a lot more anomalies to even up. So it´s apparent that my light source sucks. I want to get something new but I don´t know what that could be. Any good tips on that? What do you use over your workbench?

Thanks in advance, Anastasios.

Hi Anastasios,

I use daylight when possible, but my workshop has basic, cheap forescent fixtures, and I also use a Chromalux 100W incandescent bulb and a 13 W florescent Ott-Light lamp. These lamps do a good job of color correction, but color correction is less of a problem for me than being able to focus on my work. My 52 year old eyes focus OK on one thing or another, but if I spend a couple hours on the computer, I can expect difficulties focusing on figure work. Somtimes it takes over an hour for my eyes to refocus for close work-- time see the eye doctor!

Thanks for the replies and help friends,
after 100 or so views and no reply I got somehow anxious. But now I got some good tips, I think I´ll try the GE Reveal solution, maybe a fluorescent above all. Thanks again.......

Anastasios.
