Thanks Steve: I had seen these as part of my initial search, and while probably pretty close in scale, they just seem to lack that bit of reality I'm looking for. I'll probably have to sculpt my own. Thanks for your suggestion in any case.

Hi G - the Schleich animals are much better in real life than the pics appear. I used one of the Grizzly bears for one of my projects a while back and was quite impressed. Maybe pop into a local supplier and have a peruse!(y)

At last year's Euromil in Folkestone (2015) Pegaso were selling a very nice, realistic bear that would work in that scale.

Only thing is, I'm not sure if it was a limited edition "show special" because it came in just a plain Pegaso box with no labelling or artwork, a quick look on their site just now drew a blank, and I didn't see it again at Euro this year - although on the other hand I wasn't particularly looking out for it this year, and it wasn't being touted as a "special" as far as I recall.

The bear is walking on all fours, has a suitably fierce expression with its mouth open in a roar, and comes in 3 parts (head/shoulders, right side torso & legs/left side torso & legs), all of which dry-fit together very nicely. It's white metal by the way, as you'd expect from Pegaso.

I picked one up at the show, and I'm not going to part with it because I have it in mind for something. But it might be worth dropping Pegaso an e-mail to ask if they still have any. Got to be worth a shot!

I dropped a line off to Pegaso, and they do have the molds, but I was warned that the bear is really a 54mm. But they kindly offered to measure the figure and let me know, and if I think it will work, they said they would cast a couple for me. Is that awesome or what??!!

Pegaso's customer service is excellent, but that's going the extra mile. (y)

I've just dug mine out of the stash and it measures approx. 8 cm long and 5 cm high. Depending on the figure, I think it could probably work with either 54 mm or 75 mm pieces (given that not all 54 mm actually measure 54 mm, and not all 75s are 75!).
