Question is simple : after reading the excellent history book "So far from God" I wonder : where can I find some good quality figures of the US - Mexican War of 1846 ?
The company escapes me right now but I'm sure there was a range of Spanish army figures circa 1840-50. The Mexican army of the day was still somewhat Napoleonic in appearance.
The Mexican-American war is my favorite period of history and subject for miniature work, period. Unfortunately the figures listed above are about all there is out there. David THANK YOU for the link to Gringo 40!
Guys, I want to say a big and heartfelt THANKS !! to you all.
I will order the Michael Roberts Ltd vignette of the Battle of Churubusco.
Steve : well I agree that the US-Mexican war of 1846 sure would be a good subject for (many more) miniatures. This was the decisive time when the West became truly part of the USA, a very important moment in the history of that nation; this lead to the Civil War, and after the Civil War the West was settled...
Maybe some manufacturors are reading this ?
Johann, I have done the Michael Roberts LTD Churubusco piece and it is absolutely magnificent. The M1839 cap worn so commonly by US forces is usually done badly in miniature but this one is perfect. The whole thing is a beautiful piece when finished.
Steve, have you got any photos of the Michael Roberts Ltd Churubusco piece you painted ? ... the pic on the website of MR ltd only shows an unpainted piece, would love to see it in colour.
