Hello all,

This is Military Modelling's april 1989 magazine cover: Tinytroopers's John Douglas painted by Bill Horan.

I managed to get my hands on this figure. Now, I have a vague recollection that Bill Horan also did a painting article on this subject. It's not in the april '89 issue ( I have that one) but I can't remember in which issue it was published. That's to say: if the article exists at all!

Is there a member who can shed light on this? If the article was published would it be possible to have it scanned?

Thanks,

Rossbach

Sorry I can't help, but assuming it would have been around the same time, search ebay for old copies of Mil Mod. The description usualy says what is in each issue and if not you can message the seller and ask.

Thanks to all. Well........ maybe my memory is playing tricks. From the moment I bought that issue of MM I felt attracted to this figure. No doubt Bill Horan's rendering of it was partly the cause of this. But for some reason I never got around to buying it. So when I had a chance to buy it I hesitated no longer.

Had the same 'issue' with Realmodels Drum Major Goodman. Thanks to Steve Kirtley I managed to find nr. 152 of a limited run of 1000 figures, almost 30 years after it was first produced. Even the piece of Hodden grey cloth was included.

Anyway I received a mint Douglas last week. I was surprised to see how good it is. Especially in its days but it still can hold its own. The only minor thing are that the surface of the trousers is pitted. I've read somewhere that these figures were handcast so maybe that is what caused it. Anyway preparing it for painting will include smoothing of the surface in the trouser area with filler.

Are the other models from the TT range worthwhile?

Paul
