Does anyone know of a good reference for Macromannic warriors? I tried Osprey but couldnt find anything and google isnt bringing up what I am looking for. Thanks in advance.

I am not sure what book this came from but it was one reference I used for the Marcommanic Warriors Vignette I recently painted. I quite often save other people's versions too if I know I am going to paint the figure as well.

I hope this helps

I was looking through an online figure shop and saw it by seil. So when I googled yours was the viginit I saw (with a Pegaso figure also?). So I had to buy it. Now I need refs. BTW I loved your work. I only hope I can do this piece some justice.

Thanks James. The only word of advice I can give you is..."take your time".....so many painters rush through a figure just to see it finished. I found out years ago the quality is so much better when I take my time and try to bring out every bit of detail the figure offers.

Hi, James. I saw your question and checked my library. I came up with two volumes illustrating Marcommani; Osprey Men-at-Arms 129, "Rome's Enemies: Germanics and Dacians" plate C1. Also Blandford Press "The Barbarians" page 42. Sorry but I do not have a scan capability at the moment or I would post the illustrations. There was very little difference between the dress and arms of the northern European tribes during the dark ages, so it is very difficult to be wrong with your choices of color on your figure. Lots of shades of brown and gray and other very subdued tones, and iron weapons. What I looked at had no shield designs though shields were illustrated. Hope this helps.--

Thanks Steve. I'll ask our local book shop if they can get this one in.
