Well its that time of year again and the following is a plea to model and miniature manufacturers for the coming new year.
What has really disappointed me in 2014 is the number of times I have bought a model miniature figure, only to find that on receipt a part or parts are missing. This has happened four times to me in 2014 and that is four times too many.
While all missing parts have been cheerily replaced with an apology, it cannot make economic sense for the manufacturer to have to fork out another lot of postage to send the part to me. This is especially true when heavy internal postal costs are incurred. Profit margins in this industry cannot be large and to take a hit on the bottom line in this way must in some cases turn a profit into a loss on the sale.
I suspect that model shop/online retailers are equally annoyed and disappointed when items they sell are found to have missing parts.
I therefore plead with manufacturers to improve quality checks when packing their models to ensure all the parts are in the box. That will keep me and I am sure many other modellers happy in 2015.
