Anyone know where I can get something that looks like acer(Japanese maple) leaves in 75mm? I've got a few leads but I'm not quite convinced they're what I'm after.

Although they're designed for 54mm, Plus Model makes some laser cut maple leaves - even at that scale their characteristic shape is clear to see. They might be a little small for 75mm, depending on your taste, but might be the ticket if the shape is more important than the size. Here's links to Plus Models' products on their site:

Hope this helps - trust a Canadian to know his maple leaves ;)

Cheers,

Brian

Lol! Cheers brian! I've ordered some brass etch maple leaves from pk-pro and some loose leaves from mdp to pile them on. I'll give these others a look too!

Oops! Just noticed you're looking for Japanese Maples - the Plus Models ones look more like sugar, silver or Norway maples. On second thought, don't trust this particular Canadian's knowledge of maples, or his ability to read, either :nailbiting:

Sorry,
Brian

Lol! Yup. Japanese maples, but no one sells them so I'm going for your standard Canadian maple then trimming them down a bit (hopefully).

I'be been looking for acer palmatum dissectum atropurpurium leaves for a while myself.

(No..I'm not showing off honest, but I too know my Acers).

These are the 'long fingered filligree' mulberry coloured maple leaves).

If you see any please let me know.

I keep looking on this post and Im sorry the only thing I can think of is Spike Milligan ' My part in hitler's down fall.
Canadian Officer ' Can you play the Maple Leaf forever'
Milligan. ' No Sir. I get tired after half an hour'.

And the only answer I would have thought of
would've been Ronnie Barker in Porridge
"What... Wiv these feet"?

I'll let you know what I turn up paul. I've got some autumn leaf litter from martin at model display products (you have to phone him for it, it's not on the website). I intend to use this to build drifts of leaves. Then I've got a pack of 90-odd brass etch maple leaves on order from pk-pro that I intend to trim to an acer shape and layer onto the drifts. Fingers crossed.

This is what martin sent. Looks pretty good.

I know Martyn's stock list well mate, really top stuff.
He does individual laser cut leaves down to 1/87 scale !
I have larger scale paper leaf punches.
Only oak and broad blade leaf shapes though for
about 1/12th to 16th scale, I punch'em from brown paper envelopes!

I'm poppinginto a local craft shop tomorrow, if they have anything I'll drop you a line.
If you need some even larger leaves, pm me your adress and I'll post some to you.

Cheers

Paul

Nor communalis or disectum variagatis mate, and yes you are an early morning sherlock !
:):):):)
No I do want to do some of the famous older ornamental cultivars rather than the native or wild ones, I am doing a garden setting soon.
I bought two samurai 54mm vinyl toy figures at telford last year for a quid each made by F-Toys of Japan.
As collector figures they are great, but in a proper setting they will paint well.
