The Jesuits are expelled from Russia!
In March 1820 the Jesuit order in Russia was declared dissolved and the members of the order were expelled from Russia!
The Jesuits had been active in Russia since the 16th century...:
Not only did they proselytize...
... but also got involved in politics at all times, as they were used to from Western countries and their colonies.
At the beginning of the 17th century, for example, Jesuits actively supported the enthronement of an impostor who posed as "Tsar Dmitry I." Jesuits even fought in the army of the false tsar.
In 1820, Tsar Aleksandr I finally had enough!
On March 25, 1820, he ordered the immediate expulsion of the Jesuits from Russia. Local authorities are instructed - "Jesuits who have forgotten their sacred duty of gratitude and are therefore unworthy of the protection of Russian laws, are to be expelled from Our territory under the supervision of the police."
On the same day the Jesuit colleges and academies are closed and the property of the Order in Russia is confiscated.
About 200 Jesuits have to leave the country…:
Your Russian helpers, many times as many, are of course not allowed to leave the country. The authorities take care of them...
The Society of Jesus in Russia was only re-admitted in 1992.
In 2008, the supreme Jesuit in Russia, the Volga-German Kazakh Otto Messmer (47, left)...
... fell to an assassination attempt. The murder remains unsolved to this day.
