Hello everybody,
Here's another figure that I made this spring and finally goes on sale this October .The subject this time is one of the greek leaders Markos Botsaris who played a prominent role in the Greek War of Independence starting in 1821.

Soon I’ll come back with a work –in-progress ,
my best,
Paul

Hello again,
I'm back to show you the first step of the process. As you see on the title of this thread, the figure is made at 75 mm scale and it's a new release for Alexander Miniatures. I have to specify that the kit was inspired by the work of the french painter Jean-Léon Gérôme.

I used Magic Sculp for this phase because it's easier and faster for me to modelate a sketchy anatomy with this material.

I'll be back as soon as I can with the next step,
See you soon

Excellent posts Paul, seeing the core of this piece is very instructional in terms of the amount of prep work to catch the right pose and anatomy, this is the hidden art! (y)

Hello and thank you for your words. Here is the second step where I started to get dressed the figure using Sculpey Grey.I guess it's an advantage working with Sculpey because it allows me to work with more accuracy concerning the painting.

Once I've hardened the modelling I made molds and then a copy by Milliput Grey. Now everything is ready to restart with epoxy resins as I use to.
See you next time.

Paul,
Superb figure and great to see in progress pics.
I'm also curious why you go from sculpey to milliput and second from which material is the chair made of.

Cheers,
Marcel.

As I said before, I found it easier to shape the character's clothing with Sculpey first. In my opinion it’s easier to shape the wrinkles . The silicone that the dentists use to take the molds from the teeth of a patient was very helpful as long as it hardens fast, less then 10 minutes. So I could make a copy in Milliput and continue my work in this material because this resin is more familiar to me when define a figure with all its small details. The chair is made entirely of Milliput .
In this step the kit comes with almost all elements. In the previous phase I was to model the details of the tiles in relief , but the opinion of the painters made me decide to make it more simple to have more options when painting. So for now the wall looks smooth.

That's a great concept Paul, to transfer from sculpey to milliput

I agree sculpey is great at working with, but terrible for working on !

I've learned a lot from these posts thanks!!!

Hi everyone,
here ends my WIP with the theme of Markos Botsaris .Thank you for your interest in following the progress of the WIP. I have to say that when I finished the figure, it was the most demanding project that I dared to make so far. I guess there will be more challenges in the very next future:)
I was very happy that the kit was painted for the art-box by a very well-known painter in the world of miniatures : Danilo Cartacci.
Your comments are welcome as always.
