I hear and read about alot of people using this colour for figures. What is it and is it comparable to other oils colours? Finally where can I get it (manufacturer) I have never seen it in any art stores here in Vancouver, Canada?

I am spending more and more effort with Oils now rather than acrylics. Just a preference anyway... Not an expert by any means.

I find the Mars pigments are softer and warmer. Mars brown is a lighter and softer medium brown tone. It makes for a good first shadow for oil flesh.

I don't know about Canada bro, but you can order all you'll ever need thru Dick Blick. You can go to a few of the manufacturers sites (Sennelier) and look at their color chart, too.

Talino,
Winsow and Newton makes Mars Brown. It should be available in any art supply shop. Can't remember any specific stores but there were several good ones in Vancouver when I lived there. Check the phonebook.
