Hey guys,

I just returned from going out to VLS and seeing what was on display at Mastercon. It was a nice show and I had the chance to meet a few PF people. We took a small group picture, some of the guys there were missing and I am sure some other pictures may surface. I have put some of the entries on my site so you can view them. http://groups.msn.com/JoesFigureSite/shoebox.msnw?Page=1 The big thing everyone was talking about was the Passion of the Christ by Bob Waltman. Jim has a CD that has the article on it and he will post this when he returns home. Like I said I was only there for a short time and I am sure that others will tell more about the show.

Sorry I missed it this year. I had a good time last year. It just wasn't in the cards. Thanks for the photo album Joe.

Hey John,

No problem. I am sure that Anders will fill you in on what went on.

Roger,

In the picture starting on the right, in the stripe shirt is Anders, me, Brett Avants, Jim Patrick, Bob Whaltman and please forgive me  I can't remember the other gentleman's name.

Joe

Thanks Joe. Since I don't go to many shows, it's nice to be able to put a face to a name. If your in contact with Brett Avants you should bend his arm and get him to log on to PF. take care, Roger

Hey Roger,

Brett is a neighbor and I have broke it! He is now a member. He is going to start a V-bench.

By the way, how is the arm?

Joe

Thanks Joe. I lucked out, no break. But I did get a week off of work :) Now I can finish up some stuff for our club show this month.

take care, Roger

Hey Guys!

Well I just got back from MasterCon XIII. It was a really nice show thie year, I went to observe last year and I was quite frankly disapointed in the show, as it was kinda small and the work not what I was expecting. This year it was quite the opposite, the work was very good overall and it seamed to be quite a few pieces, probably about same as Tulsa last year or close to it.

We have a big winner from pF! Jim Patrick swept everything and got 4 golds (out of 4 entries) and Best Figure if the show with his Awseoms Indiana Jones Vignette. If you thought the pictures rocked, you should see it in person!

I also had the pleasure to meet up with several new faces of the fellow planeteers, Gordy, Jim P, Brandy Small, David Harper were a few of them that I met for the first time.

All in all it was a very nice show and I felt very welcomed and 'accepted' even though it was my first time entering and staying the whole time.

It will be a show that I will make sure to go to again next year!

Hey guys,

No problem. I am glad you enjoyed the pictures.

Roger,

That is some good news. I am glad that you were able to get something done on your little break!

Anders,

It is good thing we got our picture before the awards or we may not have fit into the picture with Jim and his awards! Way to go Jim! Anders, how did you do?

Joe

Not sure what to say here. I was quite blown away. Yes, Anders did very well. He received a Gold and more but the rest slips my mind right now. Tell us what you got when your'e finished touring with your mom. Almost as suprising was the fact that all my figures received a Gold. I entered the Trumpeter Chasseur a Cheval, Robert the Bruce and of course, Spidey. Some of the pictures you see taken by Joe are by Greg Cihlar. He did the bust of the Polish Hussar and the German standing by the Schimwagen (sp?). He is a GREAT painter and a better person. All in all, it was a terrific time to be shared by all. Another thrill for me personally was to see Brett avants again. This guy, more than any other, is who got me so fired up on acrylics. It was a lot of fun seeing Brett again and now that Joe has twisted (or was it broken? ) Brett's arm, we'll have him here as well now. I took some pics before my batteries wore out so I'll try to post them here as soon as I can. Yes, I do have the article for Bob Waltman's "The Way Of The Cross". I'm going to copy the disc and send it to Gordy so he can convert it to to a PDF file then we can all enjoy it. One thing worth mentioning is the fact that there is only one stock figure in the whole dio and that's the centurion with the cane. Even he's heavily converted though. The reast are all scratch built. Completely  . Well, it's begining to look like hurrican Frances went through my room so I need to recover a little.

See ya,
Jim Patrick

Woops, I forgot. The guy on the far left is Bill Roberts. He's an aircraft modeler by trade but there is a figure painter in him trying to get out. Join us Bill, come to the dark side.......

I'll second that Greg Chilar's stuff is top notch, that winged husar bust is gorgious, and with oils too, very impressive. As for how I did, I got 2 bronze, 2 silvers and 2 golds. My first golds ever!

All in all a superb show and wa sgreat to put faces to names. Thanks Jim for introducing me to the gang!

OK...OK...My arm hurts a little. But not enough to stop me from working. While all of you guys were yacking online, I was working on a new armor project! Check out my vbench on planet armor. I am doing a British Stuart. I will post some figure stuff as well.

I had to get back in for sanity's sake! Everyone needs a hobby. I was really AWESOME to see everyone again at Mastercon. Big congrats to Jim Patrick for his golds. Jim - your display was great. Anders...WOW! Congrats as well. I am now motivated to get some stuff done for the next show.

More later. Need to take some photos and post them!
