Good day to all - a new post from me after a long absence......
I have not picked up a paint brush for a couple of years due to a number of reasons and finally picked up courage to start again.... so here goes !!
Great kit as usual from Young Miniatures - an older one from thier range but non the less of high quality. Despite the size of some of the peices : virtually no warping and only a little hot / cold water treatment needed to flatten the turret cupola itself. There was 1 sinkhole on the hatch exterior but given the number of cast parts here and there quality : not an issue for me.
Here is the basic build for cupola parts - I followed a factory style of priming :
And here is the final phase of initial painting proces. Sinlge cammo effect with chipping using the hairspray technique completed before applying varnish :
As the figure needs to be the main focus, I have not ' overly ' worked the peice. Minimal camo - minimal wear and tear which will followed by very gentle weathing / chipping / metalic effects to be added as part of the next phase.
Anyone have a preffered method for painting the glass in periscopes ???
Its a shame that virtually all of the cupola interior will be invisible once the figure is put in place - but it will get the full treatment none the less as its fun to do so - and isn't that the point of this hobby ?
Comments always welcome - good bad or indifferant.
More pics on the next phase next week with luck.
Thanks for stopping by - DAN.
