Just finished this from Metal Models 54mm.
I have had this one for a while and has sat on the reserve bench for long enough,
time to get him painted, oils for the flesh and acrylics for the rest.
Hope you like him.

Thanks for looking.

I think I have made a mistake with the cords around the bearskin cap. I assumed it was white but on further looking it may be red. Will have sort this out now.

Nice, crisp painting. But how do you manage a catchlight on 54mm figures, Bob? It’s as much as I can do to get the pupils done.

Jeff

Thank you Jeff, apart from using a head loupe, I use a very fine paint brush and white oil paint.
The secret is dipping the brush in to the paint and taking it out quickly, you should end up with a small amount of paint in a small line, then carefully place the tip of the paint on the pupil, As long as you are careful it should work.
Hope that helps.

Hi Bob

That's a nice looking figure ..sappers are a great subject , colourful as well with the facing colour

The white cords look good

Agree with Jeff ...don't know how you leggy painters do catchlight so in this scale so all credit to you , cheers for explaining your method ...

For interest on my busts I use a 3/0'brush and WSO titanium ..a tiny bit on end and away you go .....holding your breath in my case !!!

Thanks for sharing

Cheers Nap, I can't hold my breath for long so it's just as well the eyes are varnished and no alcohol the day before painting helps.
