I'd like to invite everyone to our annual painting competition and show:

January 28 - Historical Miniature Figure Show and Competition sponsored by Michigan Historical Miniatures Club in conjunction with the Toy Soldier and Figure Show and the Red Arrow Militaria Show. 9am - 3pm. Show information: www.michiganshow.com or call (248) 586-1022. Located at the Holiday Inn Livonia (in Metro-Detroit) I-275 and Six Mile. Cost to enter figures: $5 covers all the figures you want to enter. Catagories include junior, novice, ordinance, painters, open, and fantasy/sci-fi/whatever you'd like to enter (you know, all the typical catagories at competitions). The information is also available on the calender of this site.

It's coming up soon, so get painting. :)

See you there!

Thanks for posting this Wendy! This will make a nice day trip for me. Hope to see you and any other pF members that will attend,

Bob Howe

Glad to hear it, Bob. Hopefully the weather is better than it is right now.
At the show, the room where the figures will be displayed will be just after you enter the show and to the left. Just tell the guys at the show entrance that you have figures to enter in the competition and they will point the way.

We'll have an area for competition participants to hang out, paint, munch on snacks, etc. in the same room as the display.

Jason W. probably will come, though I don't want to speak for him.

Cheers,
Wendy

I'm there, Wendy!

I would like to add that the toy soldier show is one of the biggest in the midwest. On Saturday there is toy soldier auction which is well attended. I believe at this time, figure painters can set up in the "competition" room.

The militaria show is quite impressive also. This part of the show is in a seperate room and spills out into the halls as well. This isn't your typical military surplus junk, it has a number of reputable militaria dealers in attendance. Fourth Street Books will be there also with a large selection of rare military books.

As for the figure "competition", this part of the show really needs support. If your from the midwest PLEASE attend. It's easy access from I-275. There's also a large mall within walking or short drive, distance of the show venue.

The competition part is very laid back with club members judging. Like Wendy said, all catagories are welcome. If your ambitious, bring some work- in- progress. Wendy and others usually have a couple tables set up to paint. There's room for novice and kids to paint as well...Paints, brushes and figures (toy soldiers) supplied!

If your a reenactor, wear your "poop"! It's always a crowd pleaser, especially for kids to see "real" soldiers.

Hey, for the past few years even our own Gary Dombrowski has expressed interest in making the trip...Let's hope it's this year! What ya say, Gary?

It's a virtual utopia of things military and the like. Something for EVERYONE.
Jason

Okay guys, I'm willing to make the trek from snowy (finally) Western PA. Is anyone else that is at least 3-5 hours from the show going to try and make the trip? It may be a small show but if more folks attend it just may grow into something bigger.~Gary

Gary: I look forward to seeing you again, and meeting others! Maybe Jim McCormick and Larry Lee might also be interested in driving over to Motown?
