Hello all,

A review of an old figure long out of production? I have no idea if this is unprecedented, but why not?

I bought this figure a week ago on Ebay on impulse. It came in today's mail and I can tell you I was more than pleasantly surprised!

Actually I have no idea how old the kit is. Early 90's? Maybe the figure is a bit static when compared to today's more dynamic sculpts. But I daresay it is much less static in comparison with David Grieve's (excellent) creations for example. I can see this with more Mike French models.

The pictures show what you get. Not that many parts. A relatively straightforward kit to assemble. The castings are very clean and crisp as you can see. Hardly any mould seams. No pitting. The gold braiding on the chest, back and arms is very well done. Very, very good for a more than 20 year old figure.

I know I will enjoy painting this oldie. I bought it for $58,00 (the dreaded USPS shipping cost not included).

It's a pity that Mike French stopped sculpting. He had a lot of talent. I have some more old out of production kits coming my way and I intend to write a short review on all of them.

Cheers Paul

Stands the test of time well. Look back at thoughs shows with rose tinted glasses.
Thanks for the memories.
Peter.

The Mike French stuff was "before my time" but this one looks like it wouldn't be put to shame even by today's standards. Looking forward to seeing more of these Paul.

I have always liked this figure and many other of the Mike French "Tiny Troopers" line. I painted Gordon for a friend and my wife liked it so much that some years later she found one for sale at a show and bought it for me as a surprise.

Hey guys, Great review. I actually have one untouched (with box) lost in my grey army, forgotten...
Anyway, If someone is interested, offer me what you think is a fair price and then take 25%- 50%off.
Gordon is near Seattle and looks great.me for shipping. Basically, I don't think I am ever going to paint this one.
