Will this bust be available commercially? I love it! I would paint one up in a minute!

Wow! these are some good words on Mike's "muddy". I have the same question, if it will be cast for sale. This might be just a -one-of-.

Read it and weep guys!

The pic Alex used is a photo of my original clay sculpture of Muddy Waters titled "The Hoochie Coochie Man".

The bust was produced in BRONZE and is approximately 1/2 scale. Only two of them have been cast to date. I sold one and the second sits above my computer terminal. If anybody is interested in getting one of these for real, the price is $1200.

Sorry folks, bronze casting is very costly! I also did a second bronze of Bluesman Elmore James called "Shoutin' the Blues". I had a lot of fun doing these sculptures but it was a costly proposition and people did not show a lot of interest in buying them.

To be a successful Bronze artist takes a lot more scratch than a poor miniature sculptor like myself can muster.

So it goes.............., Back doing toys again.

SIGH!

Mike, Do you think the subject matter was the reason the did not sell? It's definitely not the sculpting. Would cold cast bronze be cheaper to do? Are you going to be doing any miniature projects in the near future?~Gary

Bloody tasteless art buyers <mutter, mutter>

Lovely work Mike.

Heck yeah! It's actually cheaper than straight resin casting I was surprised to discover when I was researching materials.

Thanks to everybody for their kind comments! Especially to Maurizio Bruno whose work I greatly admire. It is always nice to hear good words from a master craftsman!

I may well indeed do a miniature sculpture of Muddy one day. But it will probably not be a commercial piece. Despite the words of people here, it is most definitely not a commercially viable subject. No producer in their right mind would pay for such a master when there would be so little interest shown in the final piece. This is not pessimism but simply reality. I should know, I have sculpted enough "shelf sitting" models in the past to know that this one is a no go!

Besides, the best pieces are always the ones you do for yourself.......
