My latest one finished, Aleksander Budonov's 1/10 bust of Mikhail Illarionovich Golenishchev KUTUZOV, produced by Legion Miniatures in their "Greatest Men" series.
The many hours enjoying the painting of the bust, inspired me to this little 'reflection':
The visually impaired general who helped find a little Corsican, lost in the Russian vastness, his way home.
As for the said Corsican, after some domestic quarrels he went on a package holiday to a boring Italian island, changed his mind and thought it might be an exciting idea to invade my country, Belgium, with a few eager and many more reluctant of his companions.
The Belgian weather not being to his liking, the British tourist office maliciously offered him an all inclusive stay on a remote island, as yet unspoiled by mass tourism, a stay which finally bored him to death! His many fans are still mourning after all this time!
As for my country, being fed up with foreigners telling us what to do, our ancestors ousted the last one of them, a Dutchman, declared independence and chose a jobless Saxon to put on the vacant throne! Ever since we happily continue brewing beer, making chocolates and excellent firearms!
On a more serious note, at last there is an excellent balanced, non-political biography in English of the man by Alexander Mikaberidze: https://www.worldhistory.org/review/355/kutuzov-a-life-in-war-and-peace/
Thanks for looking,
Pierre
