Thanks guys :)

Cool Anders! Nicely done. What - no belt buckle?

Thanks Dan, this is one of the few historically correct cowboys on the market today without all the hollywood junk.

Sure, I could have sculpted him with ammo belts across his shoulders, 3 pearl handled six shooters, 2 shot guns and a winchester with a big loop cocking mechanism but thats just too much Hollywood.

Although modern Cowboys wear their beltbuckles proudly, its a relatively new invention. As matter of fact, cowboys from the early eras (1867-1875ish) seldomly wore belts, suspenders was the common way to hold their britches up.

Anders, I think your perspective is right on! Well done. Anyone who wants some or all that stuff can just add it on, if they like. Face looks to me a little like Willem Dafoe, but that's just fine.

I like it. There is alot that can be done with this figure.

Well done and congrats, Anders.

Thanks a lot guys!

It was a real fun figure to sculpt, and fun to research as well.

I agree it does have a lot of possibilities as far as painting. Id like to see someone paint an awesome checkered shirt on this guy!

What's the band around his waist?

Anders - what you say about belt buckles, etc., makes a lot of sense - now that I stop and think about it. Of course it's not always possible to tell whether any given sculptor is really going for historical accuracy or not.

That being the case, what is the band around his waist? Is that a belt or ?

All the best,
Dan

Hola Dan,

The 'band' is the 'belt' for the chaps. Its a seprate piece of leather sewn onto the legging parts of the chaps so the cowboys can wear them!
