He is holding the intercom button in his right hand while pointing out the enemy with his left and calling out their position. Just did some calculations to check whether 1/24 matches the 75mm or 90mm. For a randomly selected European country, man's average height divided by 24 comes out to approx 74mm so this settles it.

If the outcome were in favour of 90mm, then many other great products could have been incorporated to create some legendary scenes, from figures to accessories to damaged tank parts (Young's T34 turret). Not that anyone would expect a Panzer II to knock out a T34/76 lol!

On the other hand, I cannot recall any other WW2 75mm products except the one being advertised here (I am sure there are though!). He is good, but he will be very lonely without a companion!

Hi,

Yes, a figure somewhere between 70-75 mm tall (absolute measurement) would be adequate to represent a man in 1/24 or 1/25 scale. For example, if you used an average man that is 5 ft 10 inches tall (5'10"), that is 70 inches tall. ...lets use 1/24... a scale representation of that man in 1/24 would be 2.9 inches tall (i.e. 70/24). Now a comman conversion between metric and enlish measurements is 1 in = 2.54 centimeters. So, if you multiply 2.9 inches by 2.54 cm per inch, you get 7.4 cm. And since there are 10millimeters in 1 centimeter, that would be 74mm. Of course not everyone is 5'10" (I'm 5'7" !LOL!!), so a little less than 74 would be good too. If you used 1/25 instead and repeated the calculations for a 5'10" man in 1/25 scale, he would measure 71 mm tall. 1/24 vs 1/25 would create only slight variations but then again you have people of various heights. Therefore, yes, figures in the range of 70mm-75mm tall would be suitable for the 1/25 or 1/24 scale.

As for feeling lonely, you are correct there is not much out there. Years and years ago Tamiya had 4 German figures in White metal (and later in Plastic). They also had a few Americans, a Patton and a Rommel. Funny but whe the TASCA kit came out some folks on the armor sites were saying things like: "what an odd scale? Why do that scale?, etc" Well, don't forget Tamiya had several kits in 1/25: The Tiger I (with an interior!), a Panther, a Russian T--34/85, and SU-100, a Panther A, and a JagdPanther. Then Academy did a nice Panther D in 1/25 (hence our 1/25 Tank riders in Winter Uniforms circa 2004) followed by a Jagdpanther (much nicer than the older Tamiya kits). Bandai has/had a King Tiger in that scale too. ...AND there are 1/24 jeeps from Italeri and Hasegawa, plus 2 different versions of Kubelwagens from Hasegawa in 1/25. I have ALL the above mentioned kits - it's actually a nice collection when built. ...I'm glad to see more in that range!

In the meantime, enjoy the Panzer Commander and give those 1/25 tanks some 'life"!

Thanks Paul!

I know those Tamiya soldiers you mentioned. I built one of those white metal kits countless years ago. Rubbish likeness of an actual person, if you ask me.

Good to know there are all these kits out there! Thanks for reminding me of the very recent T34/85! But my ultimate quest, if I ever commit myself to such a project, is for a well sculpted figure to complement Model Cellar's latest. And the Tamiya figures simply won't do.

So I guess for everyone's benefit, Model Cellar should churn out a few more of these. Make it a party, you know? :)
