Hey guys...i was cruising around red lancers website, and found the ACCION PRESS - MODELISMO APLICADO series and the ones on diorama building and figure painting peaked my interest...

Are these good books?

-Alex

-forgot to ask, are they in english?

Alex,
IMHO, it's hit & miss. I didn't think to o highly of the first one that was (supposedly) written by LaTorre (actually, it had a couple of articles from him with a few more from other painters). I didn't think it offered much in the way of "information." I also got burned on their first book by Mike Blank due to poor editing and translating (from Engligh to Spanish and back to English. Oooookay). However, I've heard that some of their other ones are pretty good; I also received their new one on sculpting by Mike Blank yesterday and it's great. Also, keep in mind that a lot of its content centers around painting exclusively with acrylics.

Hope this helps,

I am not familiar with the ones you posted but I have the Euro Modelismo Painting with Acrylics :Over head lighting part I and II. They are great books and if you are interested in painting with acrylics these are good books for sure. If nothing else they contain a lot of inspiration!

Those books were first published in Spain around 10-15 years ago and the techniques shown have long been surpased. As an example, when they were written, Vallejo Model Color series did not exist, and artists acrylics (also made by Vallejo, but with different reference #) were used.

I would rather follow Anders' advice and get the Euro Modelismo books.
