Well Roger, it's a damn difficult question that one!

Best kit from a technical viewpoint, or best from the viewpoint of the actual finished result?

I'll probably have to say Il Fuedo's Eugene de Beauharnais. It simply flowed from start to finish. Went together really well, and the painting side went like a dream - no hitches at all.
