Another deep dive into the stash bin came out with this oldie.
A PiliPili Mongol Commander c.1200 A.D. (scale 1/6).
I had at some time partly put it together and applied some filler to lose gaps between clothing items, but then left it.
Some enthusiastic sanding, followed by trial fitting had it good to go for priming.
It proved to be a fun paint using my usual enamels, oils and printers inks.

I hope you like it, but if you don't, my skin's pretty thick.

Cheers,
Andrew

Yeah that's OK I like it, really rather good actually. Love the differences in the various materials portrayed.

Cheers Simon

He has turned out really nicely. Given the size of the figure and the "commander" status I would have hoped to see some embroidery or fabric pattern on his sleeves though.

I think the PiliPili 1/6th "Men O War" busts are great, I am still on the hunt for this one.

Thanks for the kind comments Rob.
As regards any embroidery, I prefer to leave that to those who can do it well. I'd just make a pig's ear of it.
Years ago I painted the Musketeer from the MoW range, and still have the Daimyo in his box down in the depths of the 'stash'.

Cheers,
Andrew

I look forward to seeing you work on the Daimyo. He is one of my all-time favourite busts. I have not picked up the courage to start him yet.

Rob

Historex Agents have this, it's not cheap (£50 or £42 ex VAT). They list it as 1/9th but it is this bust. I bit the bullet some time ago and bought it and it is a nice piece to do.

SNAP!!
I know the feeling Rob.
Mine's been around for ages.
