Luca, amico mio, mille grazie per il comlimento, il tuo opinione e' molto aprezzato e
importante per me.
A proposito io sono pure un fan di Elvis, l'ho visto due volte in concerto, una volta a L'albergo internazionale in Las Vegas, e una volta allo Spectrum in Philadelphia.
Lui e' veramente il Re del Rock and Roll. ;)

Ciao

Roc. :)

Hey Guy, thanks buddy , Im glad you like it .
I have to ask, how do you work so fast? For every figure I paint you paint three, how do you do it?

Keep up the good work.

Cheers
Roc :)

Hola,

Good job! I have this one in my "grey army" too, waiting for some inspiration... I like the contrast between the dark horse and the "white" armour.

I think you have managed a good, realistic, representation of the heraldic motives, too. Which particular knight have you represented?

Regards,

Dani

Gentelmen, thanks for the replies and the kind words, they are much appreciated.

Dani, our knight is a German, the Heraldry was dictated to me by the collector, not sure about the historical accuracy.

John, I'm glad you like it.

Marc, the heraldic designs were painted on free hand.

Ernesto, the armor on the horse and knight was burnished, being that the figure is white metal, I didn't see any reason to paint it, why replicate with paint something that is already there.

Roberto, thanks.

Cheers

Hello Roc,

Free handed you said. How do you get the symmetrie, how you did the lion??
Did you draw it before you paint, whit what you draw it.
You see, alot of quistions what i like to get answers on it.
How you did those amazing metalwork??

PLEASE Rocco share the secrets with us. (or is it only me)

Marc.

Hi Mark,
I didn’t draw the shape of the lions; I just very carefully painted them using the procedure described below.
As far as symmetry goes, They don’t have to be perfect just take your time and do the best you can.

The Lions:
1- painted the shape with Mars yellow.
2- When dry I painted the shadows with Mars yellow + Burnt Umber.
3- Medium highlights - Cadmium yellow.
4- high highlights - Cadmium yellow + white.

THE ARMOR
1- brushed the armor with a suede brush.

2- Burnished the armor 000 steel wool.

3- Washed it with warm water and Ivory dishwashing detergent, make sure you
you rinse well.

4- gave the armor numerous controlled washes of Ivory black mixed
with tarps.

5- When dry I burnished the extreme highlight points with the end of a knitting
needle.
6- weathered the bottom half of the armor with a wash of raw Umber. Did not
apply sealer because I wanted a tarnished look.

I hope this helps.

Cheers

Roc-

Looks pretty neat!

A quick question for you on the heraldry on the surcoat. Are you putting the oil over a matching color acrylic for each different color or pattern?

For an knight I am working on, I tried putting the oil over an acrylic that did not closely match the base and it did not look too.... good.

Keith

Hey Keith, excellent question.
I never undercoat heraldry or patterns,I use oils right out of the tube, the trick is to use opaque colors.
