Hi,
I am new to this site, but thought I'd dig right in and ask a question first. I am in the middle of doing a Amati 75mm figure (AMT8645/04) mounted Italian knight, and have been trying to find Mr.Metal paints (Gunze Sangyo), which used to be available.

It appears that they have been pulled off the market, for whatever reason.

I am specifically looking for H212, H213, and H214, which are the stainless, dark iron and iron colors.

These work wonderful for armor, but I just can't find them anywhere.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Can't help with the paint, but welcome to the planet, you WILL enjoy it here.

Guys, Jon is an absolute wiz when it comes to Heraldry. Helped me tremedously when I was looking for hochmeister stuff a while ago.

Welcome

Robin

Thanks Robin,
I wondered where you have been hiding out!

Good to hear from you. What have you been working on?

Jon

Thanks. I tried, but didn't have any luck with them. I have looked high and low, and might have found a German site that has them, but my (Babel fish) German isn't so good :)

Thanks again.

Hey Jon, good to see you here.

I'm not sure if you've seen any of my comments on Alclad II but I've tried them as an alternative to Mr. Metals. They're very much the same sort of paint and appear to be much easier to get, although they are a British company I'm pretty sure the availability in the US is better than Gunze stuff these days. Checking the site they appear to be stocked by both VLS and Squadron so there you go!

You have to spray them because they're very thin, so brushing them on like you can with Mr. Metal isn't possible, but their watery consistency is what makes them superior IMO.

The finish of their chrome has to be seen to be believed so if you ever need to do polished plate or an unweathered sword blade then that's the paint to use :)

Thanks a lot!! This could be a great option. So you spray on and buff up? Not bad. I need to get myself set up with a good sprayer it sounds like. So I appreciate the information, and have it on my "favorites" list1!

Thanks again.

Jon

Thanks! I looks like the "stainless" is there, but not the "dark iron & iron". I wonder why they don't have the other two?
