Hi all, for no particular reason I did a search on Munich Breweries and although I go to Munich a couple of times a year I'd never looked at history of the Nazi Party in the city.
Anyway up popped this site, http://www.thirdreichruins.com/munich.htm some interesting stuff so I think I'll trot around and see some of the buildings....it's never been a hardship to go to the Hofbrau Haus anyway.
Cheers
Derek

There´s loads of WWII period suff, architecture and the like around the place here, some of it so in your face that you see it a hundred times and then you find out what it is/was and you then see it everywhere.
Like letters written on old walls;

H = Hydrant
LK = Luftschutzkeller (Airraid cellar)
The arrows point to the entrance

I go often to Germany (I have familly there) but I never paid attention to such details. I will look next time. Thank you Paul for the link !

Yes, much of the city was destroyed or severaly damaged during the war. If you want another impression of the extent of the damage, when you visit Munich, go to the Olympia-Park, a park adjacent to the Olympic stadium and village. There is a small hill there, you can hike to the top. It is the Schuttberg or Trümmerberg (as a Prussian might call it), the accumulated rubble removed from damaged areas of the city in the post-war years.

I visites the Olympiapark 5-6 years ago. See the hill but I didn't know its history. Thank you! I will see it differntly the next time !!!
