That is a very good job for your first piece! You've never painted a figure before?
Very well done!

I take it he's done in acrylics? Can't really say anything negative. If you keep practising, you'll be producing masterpieces in no time!!!

Daniel,

Thanks for sharing your first figure with us! It looks very good. One observation (from a rookie mind you ) would be to put more contrast (deeper shadows, higher highlights) in your next figure and see how you like it. This would make your flesh and clothing tones stand out a little better. You're doing a great job, keep up the good work! (y)

Daniel,

I only wished my first figure looked this good! Keep it up and ask questions and we will all be reading about your work in the future.

Well Done.............I still have my 1st figure and it doesn't look this good! Thanks for sharing your first with us.

Great Job Daniel! Thats brave to paint your first figure completely in yellow, a hard (to me) color to master. I would agree on the contrast, but I am sure you will get the hang of it in no time! What is your next project going to be?

Excellent first figure. I too wished mine looked 1/2 as good!

Nice job on the yellows. A difficult color to shadow and highlight, IMO!

Guys thanks for your kind words, i really appreciate them!!

Rob: yes, it's my first finished fig  i've got two more in the workbench, both from Andrea, the Elf Archer (Legolas) and the Samurai Archer (the same one as Edson is doing in his workbench forum).

And yes, it's done completely in acrylics (Vallejo ModelColor)

Crf: i borrowed the flesh tones from Jaume Ortiz (Sand Brown and Red Leather for Base, Base skin for lights and more Red Leather for shadows, being Red Cadmium Brown the deepest)

i keep trying mixes to get my own flesh tone

JCOX: i totally agree with you but i'm always afraid to give excesive contrast. I hope i lose that fear and experiment a bit more.

Anders: the color of the uniform was the thing why i bought the fig, i found it very rare and atractive. It's called "amarillo anteado", dunno how to say it in english, perhaps "anteado yellow" I did a mix of orange and yellow ochre.

My next projects? to finish the Elf Archer and the Samurai Archer (my girlfriend doesn't let me start any other fig until i finish another one  )

Thans all again for your comments, i highly appreciate them!

Looking GREAT Daniel!!!

Dont' be afraid to experiment. If I may suggest having a spare figure with you to test or practice certain techniques before applying paint to your project.

Your definitely on the right road (y)

Daniel, excellent job on your first figure (y) Can understand why your girlfriend is "encouraging" you to finish the Elf Archer.Did one for a dear friend of mine for last Christmas,as she is a fan of Orlando Bloom(a good likeness there !),and she was raving about it for days ! Assume she is a fan too ?Anyhow, worth the effort to finish the figure well,as the details are excellent IMHO.Cheers.

Great work on your first figure, wish my first was as good as that. Might be interesting to see everyone else's first paint job.

thanks again guys!

Jason: i'll use a spare fig (the one i recieved when i suscribed to Figure International Magazine to practice 'cause i don't like it much) i'll try to show you the results

Kenneth: i hope she's not a Orlando Bloom fan <_< she doesn't let me buy or start new figs because if not i start 3 figs at same time and don't finish any (btw, i bought today the Elite Miniatures US Infantryman Vietnam 54mm and she doesn't know )

Hardy: great idea!! it would be nice to see your first figs guys! (btw, thanks for your words, it means too much for me, i love your work).

If i can have a workbench forum i'll post the process of the Elf Archer.

We will set you up Daniel with a workbench as soon as possible......hopefully today. I have the Elf Archer too and would love to see others done as well.

Daniel, We have set you up with a workbench........sorry it took so long!

I look forward to your work.

Gordy,

You reckon this is the sculptor and owner of ARA Miniatures you were asking about a while back?
