Hey all!

I'm trying to come up with ways to make name plates/plaques for bases that are creative and inexpensive yet look good. Don't like having them engraved for me. How do you all go about it? Thought I saw a thread on this some time ago, but I can't find it.

I've been experimenting with overhead projector transparencies on the PC; can create to your own design and add graphics too. bit trickt to do, and can be wasteful if not planned, but original as well. Also you can bend them to fit a round base

F M Beneito have an article that explains how (sure there used to be an english version):

Beneito

but u can always babelfish it.

look under 'Tecnicas' -> 'placas para peanas'

Think there's another site with similar instructions. Anyone help?

I have the English version on my PC. PM me if you're interested in me sending it to you.

Trancparency film on the cp works for me too. Be sure to reverse your image using photoshop so the glossy side of the sheet shows, I then spraypaint the back either silver or gold. It can then be mounted on heavy stock paper and permanently glued to the base. I'm sure this will work great on round bases. Almost makes the namplates you buy obsolete, unless that's what you prefer.~Gary

Hi there

I sometimes use Photoshop 7.0 for the making of my nametags.
no need to by expencive paper just put some filters on the layers

Greetings,
Mr. Y. Yong has posted wonderful step by step instructions on how to create great looking name plates.
His homepage:
Yong's web site
From home page, click on the photo of the curio cabinet (must click on lowest shelf..dont know why ), the click on link "making of the nameplate".
Great step by step instructions including 10-12 photos of each step of the process (its a lot easier to do than I may be making it sound! ;) ).
Check it out.
You can also check out his painting & sculpting work. Nice site with lots of figure pics.

I use Microsoft word.

Make a frame and adopt the size.
Then I choose a fitting font. Ive downloaded about 400 from the internet.
One site is for example:
Click me

Next step is to decide the colour of the text as well as the background and frame. Size of text and composition is looked upon as might as well.

Print it out on a good colour printer and photopaper. Seal when dry with clear varnish or selfadvicial clear plastic film.

I mount with doubblesided tape.

The result can look like this:

Although it isnt the best of photos.

Thanks Uruk,
I have marked that in my favorites and will play with it later. The nameplate you designed for Wyatt came out great............thanks again
