Hello,
I am painting Michael Roberts NA-6 Trooper 15th Regiment of Dragoons Dismounted Service 1809. He is carrying strapped to his backpack a spare set of Dragoon boots. My question is what does the bottom of the boot look like? Are the soles stiched in or nailed? What would it look like. Thank you for your help. Sean

Difficult question this, hence the lack of answers!
The sole would be made of leather with maybe wooden heels. I have visited the French army museum in Paris where they do have some similar, if not identical boots, all I can say is they really do appear to be very crude looking in their construction. They certainly aren't Nike Air's! They would most likely be nailed for durability, although don't take this as gospel. Hope this helps.

That was going to be my guess too. I like your idea, so I may paint a small Nike logo on them for fun. Sean
