If anyone could provide with a bit of feedback; I'm a bit nervous taking on this 120mm version of the splinter camo. I'm using the Andrea camo set (I know, kinda lame) and what you're looking at is my first go at it, no shading yet until I'm confident that the splinter shapes & distribution look accurate.
What do you think?

The Model Soldier is wearing a bandoleer for mags of the FG 42. These were produced from different material - including camo patterns. The splinters on your figure look ok. The way you painted them is a bit different to the original. The greens and browns were linked more closely to each other. By slightly enlarging the green and brown splinters towards each other you might get closer to the original pattern.
Cheers, Martin

That first b/w photo you’ve shared is excellent, Martin - from the backdrop he looks like one of Skorzeny’s commandos who rescued Mussolini from Gran Sasso. Brilliant photograph.

You are right - the picture was taken during the Gran Sasso Raid. Skorzeny btw. was doing the intel to locate Mussolini and was then allowed to accompany the German Paratroops lead by Major Moors during the raid. Afterwards he took all the glory as he stated that he had orders to personally travel with Mussolini and provide his security and therefore forced his way into the small Fieseler Storch plane that as a result nearly crashed while having to get out with the pilot and two more passengers. Despite protests from the German Paratroops Skorzeny was decorated as "the man that rescued the Duce" and never again mentioned that he was not charge of the raid.
Cheers, Martin

Thank you all for the feedback (and keep bringing it); Martin, that color photo of the smock is what I should have been working with from the start, shame on me. And thank, as well, Martin, for the specific tips.

I think I very well may redo the bandoliers in the overall tan, as there are historically verifiable examples of this, and I think it might create some needed contrast.

I'm still kicking around whether I should start the camo over from scratch. It wouldn't be the end of the world if I did. Or I could make some changes with what I have to try to get it closer to the example Martin provided. The figure has been in a state of semi-completion for 6-7 years; I have a Jeff Shiu fallschirmjager on the way and so was using this to practice the camo before tackling the next one:

Thanks again!
