The Romans were also in Sweden, or where the ceiling is from?
Sorry but it looks to me like from Ikea!
I also hope he never needs his gladius, in the size of the handle so it can only lead with 2 fingers!
Moreover, he lived from 123 BC Dhr. - 72 v.. BC pants Romans wore my knowledge but only from 1 AD

Great sculpt - yes, but historical ??????

Hendryk

I totally agree with Hendryk!

Sorry, who names a figure after a concrete and programmable template, must also be measured with this template...

What about the "Rings" on his arm? The template wears none.
And the fringes of the "cloak" are fictitious, at the template there is nothing like that to be seen...

And at last a question to Pedro:

Is it quite sure, that this figure is 54 mm-scale? The other figures of Alexandros' SPQR-Series (Mirmillone and "Spaniard") are in scale 75 mm and I have found a spanish site, where even the centurio is described as 75 mm scaled...:

Alexandros_39_zpsfd8f0446.jpg

Even the price (45 €) is the one of a 75mm-figure and compares to the pricecs of the other two SPQR-75 mm-figures...

What is right?

Cheers

Hi Paul

You write the problems are? Simply lie solution, helmet and pants apart in time 100 years, how easy is your solution
Not to Buy?

Hendryk

Alexandre is a wonderful painter. I'll unleash the Doc on this little fellow over on MedRom but normally Adrianno's research & work is spot when it comes to his sculptured subjects.

Will see how this one evolves, I for one would paint it in a heartbeat.

Mike

Love this figure and its painting, wow.

Don't underestimate Laruccia's historical knowledge guys. Like Mike says, he's usually very accurate. Would be interesting to hear MedRom's Doc Mike!

Adrian

I would not be worrying too much about the pants. Romans used them much earlier than 1 A.D. especially in the north parts of the imperium, where was much colder. They were familiar with Celtics tribes already which have been using pants for years. As we all know Romans where very good with adopting things from others.

I guess figure needs a easy fix to gladius handle and can be painted as any centurion from the period.

Grassy sculpt and definitelyon my list to buy.

Well then look at his biography, he died in 72 BC - there was nothing with pants!
However, one can talk about everything somehow cope. Maybe he was also commander of the largest Roman camp ever in Hollywood!

Hendryk

Hendryk, I think you are referring to another Roman with the same name. You mean the one you find in Wikipedia, a high-ranking guy. The one from the funeral stone is from the 1st century AD, and was only a Centurion. Descriptions of the stone mention leather riding pants.

I put my money firmly on Laruccia and his research buddies.

Cheers,
Adrian
