Hi guys,

I was planning on getting some Citadel metallic paints as I've heard they're pretty good, but now I see that Citadel has a new range of colours with new formulas. Do any of you have experience with the new paints and how they compare with the old ones?

I have a conversion table, that's not the issue. Issue is the new formula... Are they still any good, particularly the metallics?

Thanks for any advice!

Adrian

Their old metallics are great, I haven't tried the new ones yet as I only use Citadel metallics, so I have not had a need to place an order, hopefully they haven't changed much.

I've been using the new range of Citadel paints for a little while now. I can highly recommend their 'dry' range. The 'Necron Compound' - Silver and the 'Golden Griffon' - Gold are fantastic for highlighting metals on swords, spears, armour etc.

I have replaced a few of the metallics (that had run out) with the new ones and they don't appear to be much different, still good paints. The only issue is their insistance on giving them stupid names.

Alex.

Adrian, i have few citadel paints ,not metallics and i am really happy with them, especially the foundation paints, very rich and good coverage.
Best regards

I just hated the new bottles cause they would not stay open but they have now invented a clip on the back of the lid that allows that

Great paint - also mixes well with Vallaeo

They seem to be just as good as the old ones .I also recommend there new shade ,washes which don't dry shiny like the old ones ,really quick and effective on metals.

I don't like them Adrian ,but then again most acrylics don't agree with me :( I have just discovered a couple of the second generation ones must be about 15 years old and are still in liquid form, they belonged to my eldest son from when he worked in GW and the chain mail pigment also .
I think most guys now use printers inks but the Super Snad does fantastic metal effects with the GW stuff IE Bolt gun metal I believe
and a bit of Raw Umber.
