But don't know much about the author "Jonathan Sutherland", I like some of the titles on this series, If anyone know more about the author or the books please let us know, they look pretty good.

96 pages, many color photos of re-enactors

Saludos,

Eduardo

Eduardo, If these two books are anything like the Europa Civil War reenactor book you'll probably be disappointed. There are several thousands reenacting the Civil War, and probably not many more than a thousand are of the "authentic campaigner" or "hardcore" type. All have the best there is to be gotten in terms of uniforms, weapons, and equipment. The only thing missing is that a lot of them do not have the physical appearance of Civil War soldiers. That aside they are the best there is in that hobby. I would be very surprised to find many if any photos of these folks in the two books.

Below is an exceptional example of "hardcore" reenactors. This is a modern wetplate photograph of two such fellows.

Hi Gary, wow those guys are true hardcore reenactors, my concern with the publication is the author, don't know much about him, and now the physical appearance, I never pay attention to this matter until I was wondering in the Troiani wesite and found this messenge.

MODELS WANTED:
The artist is always looking for new models in Southern New England and N.Y. state to pose for paintings. If you are a male between the ages of 16-50ish , are lean (no waist sizes over 34) not taller then 6' 1" we can use you. Rugged, craggy looking guys especially needed. You do not have to be good looking!!! If you have an interest please call Historical Art Prints 203-262-6680. We provide uniforms and equipment for the sessions.

Not only the equipment has to be right also the model that wear the uniform, I hope one day I could really do a historical reconstruction in my figures, well just have to be patience.

Where did you get the photo? any website¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

Thanks for the comments

Saludos amigo Gary y Feliz año nuevo.

Gary, I wasn't aware of a previous Europa Militaria Civil War title. Do you have a link? I'd like to see it for myself. As to the new titles, I'm looking forward to them. I have a lot of the books in this series and I for one am very happy with them. Especially the Napoleonic ones. Yes, there are some Nappie reenactors who are rather.....how should we say....my size! What I take away from the books are the uniforms and the details on these uniforms. Like I said, all that I have to this point, I'm happy with. Not just my Napoleonic titles. They also provide some very interesting vignette/ diorama ideas as we have very little out there with with period uniforms in a campaign setting with full color pics. I'll be sure to pick both of these up and will reserve judgement until I have them both in my hands. If theyr'e anything like their previous offerings, I'm sure I won't be dissapointed

I just recieved my first book of the Europa Militaria series and it was Special #8, Medieval Military Costume.

I am very pleased with the issue showing both the reinactment photos as well as the color plates of Gerry Embleton. I like the fact that this issue dweels on both the Military dress as well as civilian dress of the various times.

I plan on aquiring a few more of their series too.

The photo came from five selected to be next month's "cover" for the site. There's a lot of great info on the site inclusding a photo gallery of original and modern day wetplate photographs. As I said the only thing some of these guys are lacking is the fact that they are above the average weight for the period. I myself plan on shedding 20-30 pounds for this year's coming "campaign season".~Gary

PS, This soon to be husband and wife were the subject of last month's cover if I remember right. Again, This is a modern day wetplate photograph of two reenactors.

Guy, Though not a favorite period of my I do like the looks of the reenactors in that book. Gerry Embleton, of Osprey Men-at-Arms fame is very involved reenacting that period and I can see where his models come from when he paints that period.~Gary

Jim, my son has my copy, I'll get it from him and scan the cover. Given when the book was done some of the reenactors do not look too bad. it's a shame when the media covers events rarely do you see them talk to the folks that not only have the most passion for the period but the look as well.~Gary
