Very nicely done! I really like the hat and the pose is nice! It looks as if the cape could use a bit more in the way of folds and creases. It looks just a tad "stiff" to me, but a small thing on such a levely figure over all. Are those swords on either side of front of the saddle?

Hola Mariano
Amazing figure, how I wish to paint one of your figures one day, I hope you remember me from the past Leon Rampante in Madrid...
best wishes

Terrific looking figure and horse! Jay - I think those thingies are the stocks of firearms, aren't they? What scale is this? Mariano - It looks like you converted a horse. Which and what scale? The sculpting is marvelous - smooth, well-draped - you make it look effortless and I know it ain't!!! :)

How about an SBS on one of your upcoming projects? If your English is not up to describing the sculpting process, there are some Italian-speaking members of PF who I'm sure would be happy to translate.

All the best,
Dan

Hi Mariano...what a marvellous looking piece. Great use of some Historex pieces if I'm not mistaken.
I love the way you handled the cloak, the folds are very subtle making it look very light and thin.
I know you mix Magic-Sculpt with Duro for a lot of your sculpting but could you tell us what the light beige coloured putty is..??..looks like A+B. What ever it is, it looks beautifully smooth.

Jay..I think that's a brace of pistols you're looking at...(wouldn't like to get in the way of those..!!)

All the best...Roy.

Ciao Mariano
Complimenti un bel lavoro ....... come tuo solito ...:D
interessante il panneggio del mantello ..... molto naturale.

Saluti MAB :)

hey
Bernard the warrior-prince!
unusual topic - 30 years war is almost absent from the figure world , eclipsed by the 'most important war of that century' aka English Civil War ;)
Bravo for the subject choice and execution!
If I may offer some suggestions please read on:
commanders on both sides of this conflict usually wore armor - ecxeption was Gustavus Adolphus, Rex Suecie, who died a Lutzen also because did not have that life-saving armor (Polish War wound - perhaps inflicted by a winged hussar -prevented him from wearing that armor)
also the commanders would wear color sashes across the chest and a lace collar often with a gorget underneath -but not when in armor

Prince wold be caring pistols - wheellocks - in his holsters - they would have been much smaller - 30-45 cm in lengh, with small handles - http://www.thm-online.dk/tidsperioder/1588-1648/montre9/b-483/
but could also carry these pieces 50-70cm long

horse harness/tack -nicely done, although based on the period paintings the tack would have been more elaborate and decorated as on the White Mountain battle painting
or simple like on this painting of GA

this young prince is described here - with portraits

my question is regarding his cloak - I must admit I have not seen one like that - could you provide some info on your sources - I have a friend who has lately written a few books on the subject - in Polish -
