This is awesome news Mike! I have direct ancestors that served in the 16th and 34th VA Cavalry Regt's from Russell and Warren Co's VA. This is really awesome news as I am FINALLY making some headway into researching my ancestors Civil War history. Complete side note here. Most WESTERN Virginiaians (there was no West Virginia at the time) had a very hard time applying for their Veterans benifits as they were not looked upon too favorably by the State (Commonwealth) of Virginia because of the fact they lived so close to what was, now, West Virginia as many individuals served with the Union.

I have several pensions saved from my mother's side of my family that can attest to this. One simply couldn't just apply from these counties. There had to be witness'. Several in my families cases. Even though the served right up to the surrender at Appomatox.....

Very cool Mike!

Jim- Interesting stuff. I know where Warren Co is. There is a musuem there (Front Royal) called the Warren Rifles Confederate Museum. It's run by the Daughters of the Confederacy. Neat place. The APG is considering helping conserve a flag they have from the 6th VA Cavalry. http://vaudc.org/museum.html

Chris- You haven't seen him painted yet. I'm including instructions for a little know CS camo pattern in the instruction sheet. And that's a belt fed Sharps carbine on his hip.

David,

I don't see why not. My guy is wearing pretty generic clothes and equipment.
