Perhaps it's just the camera (or perhaps it's just me!), but either the horse appears under scale or the rider over scale...? Imagining the figure standing and straight legged, it seems the rider would be standing quite a bit higher than the horse?

Good Spot, but the horse is bent down, as the legs are not straight in the one image, but the head and neck do look a bit small in the photos, somethings not right though.

Whatever it is Steve and as you say, something about the whole composition with this one just isn't 'right'.
