Peter Jackson just directed a short film called CROSSING THE LINE, an experiment with the RED camera, a supposedly revolutionary HD 4K camera that is still in development, but promises to be the first consumer camera of its type. The rumor is that it'll hit the market at about $17,000.
The RED people shot off to New Zealand with their two prototypes and Peter ended up making his short, a WW1 mini-epic. They shot for 2 days, spent 10 days in post-production (Weta digital and Park Road Post) and ended up with a short 12 minutes long. I guess the video on Youtube is only 1/4 of the resolution of what's capable.

Check it out.

From what I've read Jackson has an interest in WW1. He had the Perry brothers who are wargame miniature designers designed a series of figures from the Gallipoli Campaign. Click on Select a range and go to the bottom of the list where it says Peter Jackson figures.

Who knows maybe one day he'll give us a WW1 epic.

There also looks to be a Red Baron movie out to. check out the website and film clip. I don't care a whole lot for the music but the footage is neat.

Gee, it's only a short? Bummer. After watching that horrible Flyboys I was hoping someone would do the WWI subject justice and Peter Jackson would be the man.
