Has anyone seen these new pre-paints from Dragon? http://www.dragonmodelsltd.com/catalog/cando/ There are also some of Little Round Top. They look ok and may have some potential for conversions.
Yeah, I've seen those in the local hobby shop. At least the Germans anyway. They seem to be painted and assembled figures from Dragon's 1/35 kits. They are sold individually, you have to collect the whole set. Not really interested in those, but that Little Round Top set looks cool. I'd love to get the Chamberlain figure.
We're seeing a blurring of the line between traditional kits (that we've been building for years) and the growing collectibles market. There seems to be a new hybrid modeler/collector who wants a scale replica but doesn't want to invest the time to acquire the advanced modeling skills to build it. It began with things like resin cockpits for aircraft and aluminum barrels for armor. It's progressed to pre-painted photoetch parts for aircraft.
We figure painters may soon be able to buy figures with the eyes pre-painted!
