Hi

Just joined the forum having decided that I would like to do figure modelling. having seen figurines at shows they have always held a fascination for me so I decided to bite the built hence joining this site. Just thinking what scale I should start with so any advice would be most welcome. Also anyone know of any figure modelling clubs near Warrington Cheshire if so please let me know.
No doubt I will have some questions along the way but having looked at this site the workmanship is stunning and I'm glad that I joined.

Thanks

Welcome to the Planet, Griff!

Advice? Collect and paint what you like. Keep your ears and eyes open. Forum-specific--read the forum FAQs, they're a big help as you get acclimated. Go to shows whenever you can and meet your fellow painters and collectors in person (online is great, but it can't replace face-to-face). Don't be shy about posting your work.

Do you have specific subjects that you like to paint? Mine are the 18th century and the Imperial German army, for example, in 54mm, with some other subjects and scales thrown in. I also like to paint in toy soldier style, detailed, but glossy, so I'm a bit of an oddball here on the Planet, but they took me in, anyway ;)

Prost!

Thanks Brad for the advice.
I've just purchased the 54 mm fig by Romeo Models of the Sicilian Hoplite RM 54-055.
I looked for a miniature that was interesting to me, but painting the Bronze armour fills me with dread, but looking forward to having a go.

Thanks
Griff

Griff mate, just do whatever floats your boat. You're not doing this for anyone else, so just enjoy it. Have a go at different scales as well, each have their own merits.
Most of all - enjoy.;)
