Hi everyone!

After a lot of admiration of famous modellers work with larger scale figures 54-120mm, I've decided to take the plunge and try a new area of modelling. My background is in 1/35 AFV and 1/48 aircraft mostly, with a few fantasy subjects thrown in for fun. I've always enjoyed figure painting in 1/35 and also fantasy topics, but had never gotten around to trying the "big boys".

I've started off with a two figures to get my teeth into. A 54mm French Napoleonic Officer, and a 90mm Winged Hussar.

Period military costume isn't really my forte (my father is more into that being a costumier for film, theatre, and television), so I would be very keen to get peoples feedback and expertise on this area for my projects.

I'm looking forward to learning a lot of new techniques and things about figure painting and military uniform in general, and sharing with the community!

Thanks all

Jon

Thanks Ken! I'm already enjoying looking at all the blogs here on the forums. Some very very fine work indeed!

Absolutely! I highly recommend them. If this is any indication, I read the first book and am on the last chapter of the second one, and I just started reading them this month. The only bad thing is that I still lack six of the books in the series. It also turns out that they tend to be the ones more expensive since they were the ones that first came out in the '80s. Ya, I could get the paperback ones cheaply, but I'm a bit of a book collector and get 1st edition hardbound only. Have a go at them you won't be disappointed.
