Hi all, found this website by pure luck as I was looking for info about learning to paint figures and was blown away by the quality of work!

I dabbled a little bit a good few years ago with the odd Games workshop figure, but never really learnt how to paint properly and have never been happy with my results.

Been a good few years since I last tried and now that I find myself much older and have a bit more free time, I thought I would try my hand again at this hobby, last time I painted to play games, this time I want to paint well to collect some of the fantastic sculpts that are out there.

So seems I have found the best place to learn, from starting equipment to get the first few coats of paint done, after seeing what you guys have done in the gallery I am very keen to get started, but first to buy some new paints and brushes, not to forget a model to work on too!

Hi Chris,
Welcome aboard, loads of good stuff on here and even loads more help and support. Nice to see another North East lad on here, enjoy your stay with us. As you say in the Toon - it's all good crack!
cheers
Richie

Thank you for such a warm welcome, been searching through peoples work and I am so impressed, if I can paint a 10th as good I will be a very very happy man!

Darlington show, ohh that sounds interesting, I dont drive but wont take long to just jump on the train, would be interested to know a bit more about that Keith.

So have my cupa and my credit card and ready to hit the shops either online or local, just not 100% sure where to start, with gaming was easy, pick army, make a list and rush out a few figures to play with, but now that I want to learn to paint to the best standard that I can I am a little unsure what model and tools to get to learn with. From reading some posts this morning seems W&N series 7 is the brush to get?

right back to the research dying to get started :)

Welcome Chris! ... you are definitely in the right place to learn, and expand your skills! .. The start, IMHO!... begins with the subject! .. something that floats your boat! .. then scale, how big/small do you want to go? then research, and ask questions on here about any given subject! .. Historical, or otherwise! .. and take it from there.... there is always someone around to help.

Regards,

Mark
