This convenient and ex-remental form was thought up by the favourite of the empress Ekalerina II - the count Potemkin.
Such form troops have received the leading fighting with Turkey.
After Ekaterina II death, her son Pavel I has again returned an old form. At Pavel I the form of the Russian army has returned to Prussian style of Friedrich II.
