Hi Vladi,

you are fast as lighting. Hope you find time to sleep. It´s amazing how fast and good you work in a short time. I love the pose and the facial expression. It´s like you can scan my mind ;-). When will they be aviable for buying? I can´t awaid the first Pictures of SAS Figures. But Haste makes waste. The only unusually thing is the hat. I only now the version which is triangular. It´s a nice and unique piece of Art. We should think about an Vladimir Demchenko bronze statue to honor your great work :).Go on with your great work and many Greetings from sunny City Berlin.

Danke,Stafan!:)
I hope, those VC figures will be available near end of May-June.Really,initially VC figures looks simple, similar and even primitive, but when I "dive" in this theme I was indeed wonder with so many types of wear, headgear, weapons etc. This theme now caught my mind,I`m making next 3rd figure.
About hat-VC used many kinds of hat and such pattern I saw in photo.Usually we imagine VC in classic triangular hat,but on photos I see it very rare.Perhaps in combat situation such big hat is not comfortable.Especially in jungle.I think it`s good for peasant works.

P.S. Photo of such small hat

Nice figure.
I am thinking the hat in the photo is actually one of the Pith type helmets that they wore, with a cloth cover pulled tightly over it. THis covers the contours a bit, and the angle makes it look a bit more squared off than it actually is. I believe that you can see the material on the underside pulled tight with probably something like a draw string or elastic. I think the figures headgear would need a little bit of contouring added, as its a little hard edged. Not a big deal, though. You can actually see it illustrated on the cover of this Osprey book

An excellent sculpt.
The pose suggest that he is toting a heavy weapon for a small build Asian man. The weapon looks huge compared to him. And it should.

Vladi,
could you post a pic of this fellow next to a GI/ standard 1/35 figure. I would be interest to see if he is sculpted 'shorter'

Good stuff, thanks for sharing

Cheers

Thanks,guys.
Really,DP is very big and heavy machinegun,I can only imagine how it was difficult to served him.
My grandfather was DP machine gunner during WWII and he said that it was much heavy for marching or running. Also as too long time for load magazine and too short time for shoot it:)
That`s a photo for comparision, Janus.

Vladi,
excellent, thanks for the comparison shot.

Comparing the two (although the Vietnamese is semi crouched) comparing the legs, arms, general build (torso), it can be seen that the the VC is sculpted to Asian male sizes of that period, rather then sculpted to '54mm' size.

It also speaks to the sculptors courage that he will willingly compare the two figures side by side. Many would not have posted such a picture, I applaud your integrity

Vladi, I could see how the US figures are part way through a patrol, as the Vietnamese figures move along to ambush positions just out of sight of the patrol.

Excellent sculpting.

Cheers
